Visibility Score

How often AI mentions your brand across your tracked queries.

What the Visibility Score measures

Your Visibility Score (0–100) measures how often AI mentions your brand across your tracked queries and AI models.

A higher score means AI is mentioning your brand more frequently. A lower score means AI is less likely to bring up your brand when people ask questions in your category.

Why it matters

If AI doesn't mention your brand, it doesn't matter how accurate the description is. Visibility is the first problem to solve.

Think of it this way: your Visibility Score tells you whether you're in the conversation. Your Integrity Score tells you whether you're being described correctly when you are.

Both scores matter. A brand can have:

  • High visibility + high integrity: AI mentions you often and accurately
  • High visibility + low integrity: AI mentions you often but gets things wrong
  • Low visibility + high integrity: AI rarely mentions you, but is accurate when it does
  • Low visibility + low integrity: AI rarely mentions you, and is inaccurate when it does

What a good score looks like

ScoreWhat it means
80–100AI mentions your brand across most of your tracked queries — strong visibility
60–79AI mentions your brand on many queries, but there are gaps
40–59AI is inconsistently mentioning your brand — significant coverage gaps
0–39AI rarely mentions your brand in your tracked queries

First-scan scores are typically lower than long-term averages. It's normal to start below 50. Track the trend over time rather than fixating on a single scan's score.

What affects your Visibility Score

Your Visibility Score is based on five factors:

Brand presence — How often AI mentions your brand at all in responses to your tracked queries.

Brand prominence — When AI mentions your brand, how prominently. Being mentioned in the first sentence of a response scores higher than being mentioned in passing at the end.

Share of voice — How often AI mentions your brand compared to competitors in the same responses.

Sentiment — Whether AI's mentions are neutral, positive, or negative in tone.

Citation — Whether AI includes links to your official pages when describing your brand.

How to improve your Visibility Score

Increase brand presence: Publish more detailed, authoritative content about your category on your website. AI models learn from published content. The more your website covers the topics people ask about in your category, the more AI learns to associate your brand with those topics.

Improve brand prominence: Get your brand mentioned early in authoritative content — product comparisons, review articles, category guides. AI often mirrors the prominence structure of the sources it learned from.

Increase your share of voice: Check Competitor Presence to see which queries your competitors dominate. Publish content that directly addresses those queries.

Add more canonical URLs: Go to Brand Hub → Verdict Engine and add your most important pages (pricing, features, case studies). AI is more likely to cite pages that appear in many authoritative sources.

Expand your tracked queries: A narrow set of queries gives you a limited Visibility Score sample. Add more queries in Brand Hub to broaden your tracking coverage.

Reading your trend

The Overview section shows a 30-day Visibility Score trend. Use this to measure the impact of content changes:

  • Rising trend — Your content changes are working. AI is mentioning your brand more often.
  • Flat trend — No significant change. Your visibility is stable.
  • Declining trend — AI is mentioning your brand less often. Check Competitor Presence to see if a competitor is gaining ground.

Changes to AI model behavior can affect your Visibility Score without any action on your part. Monitor the trend across multiple scans before drawing conclusions from a single data point.
